The electronically controlled all wheel drive system (AWD) provides stability and traction, ensuring both an enjoyable driving experience and dynamic safety. It's controlled by an electronic management system that constantly monitors the speed of the wheels, the throttle, engine torque, engine speed and the brakes, helping to ensure maximum control at all times.

The clean body lines with their rounded corners and the aerodynamically designed rear bodywork result in low air drag. This contributes to the cars first-class comfort and ensures that the fuel consumption is kept at a low level.

The front suspension consists of a MacPherson strut with asymmetrically mounted coil springs, hydraulic shocks and a stabilizer bar. There is also a lower link arm on each side. The strut angle creates a negative offset, contributing to more stable braking even if one wheel has a poor grip.

Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) is a sophisticated stabilization system which, in addition to the STC functions, intervenes and corrects any tendency to skid. A number of sensors monitor the rotational speed of all four wheels, the driver's steering wheel input -- e.g. the steering angle -- and the course of the car. The DSTC control unit processes these signals and, if any deviation from the norm is detected, such as the start of a rear-wheel skid, the system intervenes and gently activates the brakes to the appropriate wheel to put the car back on course again. It also reduces engine power if necessary.

Available with All Wheel Drive, this function is designed to help reduce wheel spin by transferring power from a drive wheel that begins to lose traction to the wheel on the opposite side of the car (on the same axle). Traction Control monitors and compares the rotational speed of the drive wheels. If one of the drive wheels shows a tendency to spin, the difference in speed is immediately detected. This triggers the Antilock Brake System, which brakes the spinning wheel until the difference in rotational speed is corrected.

Dynamic Sport Suspension consists of lowered springs which help to stiffen the chassis and lower the vehicles center of gravity. (Included in Sport Package for 2.4i and included in Sport and Dynamic Trim Packages for T5).

4-Channel Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Brake Assistance (EBA). A shorting stopping distance at all times is a vital precondition for you to feel safe behind the wheel. The large-dimension disc brakes front and rear naturally feature ABS anti-locking to allow you to brake firmly and steer at the same time. What is more, the front brakes are ventilated to withstand long and hard use. EBA (Emergency Brake Assistance) provides you with extra help if you have to panic-brake. If you do not press the brake pedal sufficiently hard, EBA immediately steps in and tops up with just the right amount of braking power to bring the car to a standstill in the shortest possible distance.

Speed-Dependent, Electro-Hydraulic, Power-Assisted Rack-and-Pinion Steering. The rack-and-pinion steering transfers the movements of the steering wheel to the wheels firmly and precisely, making the car easy to maneuver when parking, while providing a high level of steering stability at higher speeds. The steering column has an advanced safety design. Both the upper and lower sections telescope in a frontal collision. This helps reduce the risk of injury to the driver in frontal collisions.
